Beyond The Valley

Kakani: -
Situated at an elevation of 6,500 feet above the sea level, 25 kilometers away from Kathmandu City is hilly and famous for plenty of terraced fields. Short treks are made possible. The fabulous holiday area of Kakani features enchanting attractions ranging from the beautiful alpine scenery to the magnificent Himalayan panorama, especially of the Ganesh Himal.

Beyond The Valley

Nagarkot: -
There are various places around the edge of the Kathmandu valley which offer great mountain views, but the resort village of Nagarkot is generally held to be the best. Mountain watchers make their way up to the village; stay overnight in one of Nagarkot’s lodges or hotels that rise at dawn to see the sun appear over the Himalaya. Nagarkot is the popular tourist resort of Nepal which is situated 32 kms east of Kathmandu at an altitude of 2175m above the see level. The panorama of the major peaks of eastern Nepal Himalayas including Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest) can be seen from here.

Chobhar: -
En-route to Dakshinkali, situated 9-kms south-west of Kathmandu, this place is famous for its gorge, said to have been cut by the god Manjushri to drain the water from the Kathmandu Valley which was at that time a lake. There is a small but picturesque temple of Adinath on the top of a hill. From this point one has a superb view of snow-clad mountain peaks.

Daman: -
Daman is situated about 80 kms southwest of Kathmandu valley at an altitude of 2400m. above the sea level. It is located on the Tribhuwan Highway. This place is famous for the panoramic view of the snowy mountains, the major peaks, that can be clearly seen from here are Mt. Everest (8848m), Annapurna III (7555m), Phurbi Chyachu (6637m), Choba Bhamre (6016m), Gaurishankar (7134m) etc. There is a view tower in Daman fitted with a long-range telescope. Daman can be reached in four hours from Kathmandu because of mountain highway. However it is worth visiting the area after watching the landscape of the Himalayas with having luxurious accommodation and cuisine of International standard there if one wish to stay overnight.

Dhulikhel: -
The ancient town is situated 32 km east of Kathmandu on the side of the Arniko Rajmarga (Kathmandu-Kodari highway). It is a lovely place famous for its scenic beauty and old tradition, from snowy ranges from Karyolung in the east to Himchuli in the west. There is a medieval township Banepa between Kathmandu and Dhulikhel. There are frequent bus services to Dhulikhel from old Bus park (Ratna Park).

Panauti: -
Standing in a peaceful Valley roughly 6 kilometers south of Banepa, the small beautiful town of Panauti is located. This town is relatively untouched but where festivals preserving the precious tradition of the indigenous Newars are held. It possesses a number of interesting temples, one of which perhaps is the oldest in Nepal. Besides, it is famous for magnificent woodcarvings.

Namo Buddha: -
Situated on a hill just above Panauti valley is an authentic Buddhist shrine which the indigenous Newars call ‘Namra Bhagawan.’ The Stupa is highly worshipped by Nepalese Buddhists and Tibetan Buddhists. This serene wood proves to be an ideal spot for sentimental meditation. The pious forestation is believed to be the exact location where late King Mahastawa (one of the past Buddha incarnations) sacrificed his own flesh for the sake of a dying tigress and her hungry cubs. The Stupa is highly worshipped by Nepalese Buddhists and Tibetan Buddhists. This serene wood proves to be an ideal spot for sentimental meditation.
