Royal Chitwan National Park

For anyone who visits Royal Chitwan National Park, it sooner or later becomes an addiction. Best time to visit Royal Chitwan National Park : Spring- February till end of April and fall mid September till mid December.

Recommended Activities:

Bird Watching
An early morning walk through the bush and along the Rapti River, is a must go to view many of the exotic birds, including the Gaint Hombill, lesser plorican and paradise Flycatcher. This apart, the movement of the migratiory birds in the beeshazari Tal. You will be accompanied by our experienced naturalists to this wonderful birder’s paradise.

Elephant Safari
Seated high on the back of a trained elephant exploring the grasslands and core area of the park, you become an integral part of the life of the national park. The elephant safaris, though not the most comfortable rides, is an amazing experience. And it doesn’t take long to spot at least a rhino in these forests.

Elephant Bathing
Just chill out beside the tranquility of the Budhi Rapti River and watch the appealing elephants taking a bath or if it’s too tempting, join them while taking a dip down the river.

Jungle Drive
Drive into the heart of the park for a good chance to spot the rare species. The drive takes you along time worn trails with great opportunities of viewing big animals. Don’t forget to move on to kasara-the park headquarters wherein you will get the chance to visit the kasara durbar and the crocodile breeding centre. The centre is housed with a number of breeding and hatching ponds to produce and rear the animals until they are ready for release in the wild.


Canoeing
A journey down the Rapti River in a traditional dugout canoe offers you the chance to quietly observe the exotic species of birds and animals that come for a slip at the water’s edge.
Observation Tower
Be calm and quite on the 22 feet high wooden tower built in the prime location of the park, which offers unique chances to see the movement of the animals in the wilderness.

Nature Walk
Walk out and stretch your legs deep into the forest accompanied by professional naturalists as they share their extensive knowledge with you on your way to prime sports in quest of rare and endemic species. Be on the look out for the great one horned rhinoceros, wild boar, sloth bear, bison, gangetic dolphins, gharial crocodile and the Royal Bengal Tiger.

Elephant Breeding Center
Of all the animals, elephants are probably the most graceful. Our naturalists will take you to the Hattisar to demonstrate how elephants meals are prepared and how they
Eat meals in the breeding centre. They will explain the nature and habits of elephants. The unique centre was established in 1985 for the captive breeding of domesticated so as to avoid the pressure of wild elephants trapping for domestication.

Tharu Stick Dance
Savour the magnificent cultural dance of the tharu communities watching by the bon fire in the evening in any of the hotels of Sauraha.

Buffer Zone Village Tour
Experience the uniquely place culture of the tharu people relish what their culture is like in the tharu village museum in the heart of Sauraha in Bachhyauli. For centuries, the Tharus have lived very close to this protected area and hence their traditional reflects their intimate relationship with the nature world. Visit the tharu village and share their world with them as you reach out to touch another culture.

Getting There
Via Surface
A scenic 6 hours drive southwards via the Prithivi Highway for 135 kilometers from capital city of kathmandu till Narayanghat followed by 27 kilometers westwards on the East-West Highway.

Via River
It is possible to combine your surface departure together with a white water rafting program of one to three days. The rafting course is on the Trisuli River that runs parallel to the Prithivi Highway. The put-in-points are either from Charaudi or Fishling which are 72 and 80 kilometers respectively from kathmandu. Rafting is the kind of exciting outdoor activity to go hand in glove with wildlife adventures.

Via Air
Bharatpur, the district headquaters of Chitwan has an airfield with direct domestic flight connections between Kathmandu and Pokhara. Kathmandu/Bharatpur or vice versa is a 25 to 30 minutes flight while Pokhara/Bharatpur or vice versa takes 15 to 20 minutes.

On arrival at Bharatpur, guest are received by our staff and then driven off to the camp.

Programs

Our program during your stay at our Resort has been designed in such a way so as to make your stay enjoyable but exciting at the same time. However, viewing of wildlife at their best require early morning and late afternoon excursions which is a matter beyond our control, and guest are advised to comply to the schedule for their own advantage.

Days 01 : On reaching resort, our Guest Relations Officer will brief guests.

Elephant Safari / Jungle Walk / Nature Walk with Boat Ride (3:30 pm)
Dinner (8:00 pm)

Days 02 : Wake Up Call (5:30 am)
Followed by tea / coffee
Bird Watching / Elephant Safari / Jungle Walk (6:00 am)
Breakfast (8:00 am)
Crocodile Walk. A 45 minutes walk through grassland and forest upstream of the Narayani river. Board boats to observe crocodiles along the banks while floating back to the camp. (9:30 am)
Lunch (1:00 pm)
Elephant Safari / Jungle Walk / Visit Observation Tower / Nature Walk with Boat Ride (3:30 pm)
Dinner (8:00 pm)

Days 03 : Wake Up Call followed by tea /coffee (5:30 am)
Bird Watching / Elephant Safari / Jungle Walk (6:00 am)
Breakfast (8:00 am)
Departure (9:00 am)
